Problems addressed: Currently, there is no robust intelligence-grade kernel security protection available for Android/Linux based devices including IOT which can prevent sensitive data leaks. Most of the solutions offered today are Application level and file folder level policy frameworks are attack-prone and can be easily compromised by an expert attacker.

Our kernel resident security software framework "Diamond-Droid", can safely and securely intercept, deceive and defeat any "prohibited" events at the system level. Any number of such "Prohibited event filters" can be programmed and added as a loadable kernel module (LKM) with trust verification. Depending on customer requirements, we can build custom "control mechanisms" or "filters" to suit to client needs.

Diamond Droid is a kernel based security framework on the bleeding edge of cybersecurity technology. Built around a modified/hardened linux kernel; it safely intercepts, deceives, and defeats any security threat at the system level.
Diamond Droid can prevent any type of data leak or intrusion in android / linux based devices such as mobile phones, smart watches, Medical Devices such as Patient Monitoring workstations, Glucose meters, Heart & Lung Monitors, personal medical devices which require specialized protection, and a plethora of IOT devices.

Many Android applications, even the security focused ones, have been shown to be susceptible to application level privilege escalation attacks: For instance, an application without permission to access the Internet can use unprotected interfaces in other applications to download files, access voice calls, install malicious malware or SMS services.
Whether it be unauthorized data transfers, irritating pop-up ads, malware or other types of intrusion, Diamond Droid provides customizable filters, giving each user a product unique to their needs. For example: A video game company would want to prevent anyone from using a mobile camera or voice recorder to capture projects under development. Using geo-fencing, Diamond Droid alerts the administrator and deactivates/ jams the camera, voice recorder and other devices selected by the administrator. As soon as the specified device leaves the premises, the camera and voice recorder will be reactivated.
Such specific control over security is imperative in Governmental and Corporate sectors, yet is also beneficial for personal use. By security, we mean, protecting the system from manipulation by impostor, from the OS level. The OS is fault tolerant with better fault isolation mechanisms, providing a seamless and undetectable security filtration. For ex: When a user makes a system call, it is forwarded transparently through the filter which in-turn will call the actual system call. The users and applications are not aware of the presence of the filter model, as there is no change to the user interface. This is just one amongst several checks and balances incorporated in Diamond Droid to keep continuous watch on the kernel files, insuring they remain unreachable to would-be hackers.
Diamond Droid can utilize multiple filter classes without introducing unknown bugs into the kernel code because of its separation in code base. Diamond Droid is unlike application-layer-based security software, resides inside the Android/Linux Kernel, beyond the reach of outside users. Using this model, Diamond Droid is able to provide both passive and active biometric data.

Diamond Droid is securely installed in the modified android kernel of every mobile phone. The technology is written in C++ language. Diamond Droid filters provide the power and flexibility to be customized for the unique needs of the user.
The Core Droid Kernel Filter mechanism is fused deep inside the modified Android/ Linux kernel and is hard to reach by any hacker. Several checks and balances are incorporated in the patented software which keeps a continuous watch on the kernel files.

Diamond Droid Programmable Filters
The Android Kernel has the highest system privilege and every aspect of the phone is accessible by the kernel. Therefore, every part of the phone can be programmed by building a specialized a filter and it is left to our imagination and requirement.
Types of Droid Kernel Filter functions that can protect or prevent include:
i) Provide a list of all apps and what data each app is sending or receiving, what URL they are accessing remotely, what kind of data they are sending and what kind of data they have permission to access etc.
ii) User can select a set of target files or file folder or specific records in a file, (example: address book or text messages) and let the filter to monitor whether any data is accessed by any app. If any app accesses the targeted data files or data elements or data folders, intercept the app and give the user a warning or block the data or send some dummy data.
iii) Secure voice call/ secure messaging using kernel and/or in combination with a secure app
iv) Whitelisting or blacklist of applications
v) kernel based application usage analysis and set usage limits. we can block certain applications beyond certain usage limits to prevent phone addiction.

Aiming to derive valuable insights, he is currently involved in very large scale data analytics, data harvesting and open data projects like 800 million voter data in India, SEC database real-time data, US public school systems, Medicare/ Medicaid/ health insurance data and health systems data in 50 states.
As a SAP expert, he had implemented very large global SAP clients. He had sold his earlier publicly held IT companies to other public companies.Besides developing Big data start-ups, he is also advising other start-ups. He is a qualified Cost Accountant with Degrees in Math and Management degree from MIT Sloan School, Boston. He is a relentless networker and technologist with a keen eye on future. Mr. Howard J. Messer, CPA, is Chief Financial Officer at Zuma360 Software, Inc.and a Member at The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a Member at New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Messer was previously employed as Audit Manager by Arthur Andersen LLP, Chief Financial Officer & Vice President by Compuflex Systems, Inc.

Advisory Board Member
Prof. Janakiram, Department of Computer Science, IIT Madras where he heads and coordinates the research activities of the Distributed and Object Systems Lab, Yahoo! Grid Lab IIT Madras, involving Big Data and Cloud Computing.
Some of the cutting-edge technologies managed by Prof. Janakiram at the Yahoo Grid Labs include Cloud Bursting (for Xerox Corp), Generate MapReduce, Skew Handling in MapReduce, Improving Genetic Algorithms.
His current research focus is on building large scale software systems focusing on distributed systems especially cloud and grid computing systems and challenges in big data processing.
He is also the founding Chair of ACM Chennai Chapter. He was awarded the Boyscast Fellowship in 1997. He was awarded the IBM Faculty Award in 2007 and Yahoo Faculty Grant in 2009.
His book on Grid Computing has been brought out by Tata McGraw Hill Publishers. His book on building large scale software systems is published in 2013 by Tata McGraw Hill publishers.
